- With a strong love of science and learning, I have been involved with teaching at all levels from preprimary children through to university students for twenty years. I have also taught at TAFE, the Western Australian Museum and worked as a guide for the popular GoBush activities coordinated by the Hills Forest, Mundaring. I have had several years experience in nature based tourism throughout Western Australia as a tour leader, driver and cook. As chief scientist and co-organiser, I co-led Project Eakehei which undertook a program of zoological, ethnobiological and environmental impact research in rainforests of southern Ecuador. For this work, my colleagues and I were the only Australians to ever win a BirdLife International BP Conservation Award. As a biologist, I have worked throughout the southwest of Western Australia, in Victoria, Europe, South America and the United States. I continue to act as a consultant biologist/ecologist/conservationist and have been blessed with a beautiful family of three girls (including my partner!).

Of current concern to me is the disregard for public health and safety in the establishment of electricity substations and mobile phone towers in the Rockingham and Peel region. The Waikiki substation is a perfect example of a project that was instigated without proper public consultation and with complete disregard for the latest research on the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation. In a similar fashion, blatant public misinformation has backed the recent proposal to establish mobile base stations in the Shoalwater area.
